more of my personal story

back to angel

I am an artist and a photographer. I really think I inherited everything from my grandparents. My dad's mom was an artist and used to sell her paintings and his dad was a drafter and liked to draw. My mom's dad was a carpenter and designed furniture and was a photographer. My mom's mom did everything (I am just like her.) She drew, painted, made jewelry, invented things and sold it all in these local markets. It's really cool that they all gave me their genes lol. I went to South Highlands Art and Magnet Institute, and that is where my love and passion for art and photography began. When I was 10 years old, my Grandfather, who is also a photographer, bought me a camera for Christmas. I remember he showed me his camera in front of his house - he had a HUGE lens on it and said, "Look, you can see the houses down the road." Back then, that was amazing. I was on the yearbook staff and ran around taking pictures of all of the events. Okay, I was only 11 when this yearbook was in my hands and I wrote "me" in marker, pink of course, by all of the photos of me. Don't hate me for being a girlie girl. The first photograph I remember getting excited about was my friend Donald jump-roping. I caught him in mid-air with this smile on his face. I remembered I was soooo excited that I got that shot. I was really excited when we got to use it for the yearbook. I had poetry and other things published prior to this, but to see that photo in the yearbook changed me. I thought this is the coolest thing - EVER!

That year I also had my artwork picked by the Staff to go on the front cover of the yearbook. I remember they announced it over the intercom, I was sooo tickled.

Boy, what a GREAT year! That was the year that my teachers shaped my life, seriously, I have much love for them. I owe them so much. So as you see, I was in love with art, and photography - BUT when digital photography came out - oh boy - I was in love. Now I can do my art work ON my photos. The digital age has truly changed my life. I am blessed that I can share my love of art and photography with the world, and I am thankful that the world lets me.
