We first met at Clancys Village Bowl in Muncie, In. However, Megan didn't know she had actually met me because I pretended to be someone else at the time.
Megan was running a promotional program through bowling leagues and I happen to be bowling at the time she was doing so. I told the guys that if I was called to take part of the promotion and proceeded to win if I could trade in on a date with her. At the time it was said out of all fun until one of our team members was called out and he had already left and left me with his tickets for the promotion. So I go up there and tell them I was this guy and it worked, except I didn't win and I didn't get to trade in my prize for a date nor did I even get her name or number. At the time I just left it at that and thought I will see her next week and see what I can strike up.
It wasn't two days later and my buddy wanted to go look at new trucks and wanted me to tag along. He said all along he was going to one dealership and ended up going to the dealership that Megan was working at. Not only that, she was the one that greeted us. At first I didn't say anything. Besides we were here for my buddy to get a new truck.
During our test drive, I brought up the promotion that she was running at the bowling alley a few nights prior and asked if she remembered me being there. Again she didn't know my real name at the time of the question....however that didn't even matter cause she didn't even remember me from the bowling alley. Guess I made a great first impression. I proceeded to tell her that I took part of the promotion and cheated and posed as one of my team mates and told her my real name.
After the test drive my buddy did the whole chat thing with her boss on trying to purchase the truck and I had nothing better to do than to get Megan's phone number. And with a little luck and the Masters charm I did get her number.
A few days passed before I called and when I did, I learned she was getting her wisdom teeth taken out the next day. I just had my wisdom teeth taken out a few months prior so I offered some advice and it gave us something to talk about for a little bit. I left it with her to get a hold of me after she recovered and maybe we can get together soon.
Now people knowing me, know I just don't leave things at that so using my UPS powers (if you didn't know I work for UPS) I looked up her address and sent her some recovery gifts and hopefully won a little place in her heart to let me take her out on a date. I must have since we are now getting married.
Megan has been a great fiance' and an amazing mother to our daughter. I am very fortunate to have met such an amazing person.
I was working a Promotion event for Toyota at the time at Clancy's Bowling Alley with my co-worker Mark. I was the emcee that night for the event and we were calling peoples names out for a chance to bowl $100 strikes. Derek's name was called, but.... it wasn't really meant for him. He pretended he was his friend Dave who had already left for the night. I didn't notice, and he bowled- no strike. Boo- thats a bummer, on to the next. That was the last time I saw him.... that evening.
Later one slow day, him and his friend Mark came in to test drive a Tundra that we had on the lot. Derek had told me in a test drive that he had met me the other night- I felt bad but I did not even remember! Whoopsie. After the test drive, while figuring the numbers for the cost of the truck, Derek had asked me for my number. I gave it to him (he still has the card- isn't that cute!) and he asked when he should call me. I told him the rule was three days. He waited three days, called me, and I was on my way home to have my wisdom teeth removed. Since he works at UPS he found where my parents lived, and he mailed me hot cocoa and vegetable soup with a note saying, "This helped me when I had my wisdom teeth removed, The UPS Guy." Ever since then we have been inseparable. I love you, Bubby.
